YaleSites Forum lacks helpful navigation

Hi,

I’ve noticed that there is no easy way to browse individual forums (Site Building, Module Requests, Site Analytics and their sub-topics) within this YaleSites support site. That kind of drill-down would be helpful when looking for answers to questions that have probably been addressed (many times) before.

As it is, we 1) look for a recent question that might belong to an overall area we’re interested in 2) then click through to that question 3) then click on the “Forum: Basic Site Setup” link (which is actually a sub-forum)  4) then use the breadcrumbs to go up one level to view all options for that forum 5) then click the actual sub-forum we want.

Exposing those categories makes existing content more discoverable and might lead to fewer repeated questions and a more efficient process for everyone.

Having said that,  I’ll now go post another question that might have already been answered somewhere in here…

Thanks for listening.
Matt

One simple suggestion that would help a bit would be to just add a forum/sub-forum column in the list of “Latest Forum Topics” on the /forum page.

Hello Matt,
Thanks for the feedback. We’ll put that in as a feature request.
