My site just went live, and a user noted that it didn’t appear when he searched for it on Google. How can I correct this?
Thanks!

Hello Ifeanyi,
After your site goes live or has been published, Google will automatically add your page to their index. Unfortunately the procedure is not immediate and could take up to week to see results, sometimes even a month to notice your page within the search rankings.
The best way to check if your page has been indexed by Google is to type site:your-site.com. This will show a list of pages in your site that have been indexed. Google does not advertise how often they crawls the web, but what it is known is that a “Deep Crawl” happens about once a month. This extensive survey of Web content typically requires more than a week to complete and an undisclosed length of time after completion to build the results into the index. For this reason, it can take up to six weeks for a new page to appear in Google. Brand new sites at new domain addresses that have never been crawled before might not even be indexed at first.
You can however request a crawl of your site by signing into Webmaster Tools. For more information, please see Webmaster Guidelines. Here are three important details to follow when your site has gone live:
Submit a Sitemap using Google Webmaster Tools. Google uses your Sitemap to learn about the structure of your site and to increase our coverage of your webpages.
Make sure all the sites that should know about your pages are aware your site is online.
Once you site has been indexed, Google Webmaster Tools will keep you informed of your site performance in relation to site structure, linking, and navigation. If you want to track visitors and usage of your site, you would need to resort to using Google Analytics.
