View: Excluded field not being excluded

Hi, I’ve configured a view to exclude a field (URL). But, in the page view that field is not being excluded. I’ve tripled checked the content type fields (YaleNews ALL Feed) and the construction of the Fields configurations in the view and am mystified as to why the URL field is not being excluded. Please let me know what I may have missed or done wrong. A bit more info is that this content type, YaleNews ALL Feed, is pulling in an RSS feed. I don’t know if that makes any difference but I wanted to give you as much info as possible.

Hello Jo,

I see the fields Title and YaleNews Title are basically a duplicate. was that intentional? The only difference is the Rewrite Results. The latter has that excluded field and the words yn title keep. If not needed, it can be removed and therefore not show your duplicate title in the first listing.

Hi there,

The difference between the title fields is that they come from two different content types. One content type (I did not create) is for other media articles to be entered in manually. The YaleNews ALL Feed content type that I built is pulling from an RSS feed and will be fully automated. I add the extra text, ‘yn title keep’ so it would be obvious which field is working and needs to stay. I doubt very much that that extra text is making the URL field not be excluded. The URL field in the views configuration is completely separate from the ‘YaleNews Title’ field. Why, if the URL field is set to be excluded, is it not being excluded? This is what I need to know.

In the Rewrite field for the ‘YaleNews Title’ field I have included the excluded URL field because i want the YaleNews title that is being pulled in to be linked to the article.

Hi JoAnn, 

There were 2 issues, you were using 2 titles (one using Automatic Nodetitles) and you only needed to use the main Title field. Automatic Nodetitles replaces the title field so basically it becomes one.

The second was that you had built out the URL for the title where you could ljust use the Field Redirection Module to automatically redirect the title field to the URL field when it has data. 

You should be all set now.
