User Sortable View

I want to create a view that displays nodes in a table-like structure. Each node would be a row and each node field would be a column. I then want to allow site visitors to sort the table on one or more of the columns (like you can in Excel). The sort order would be temporary and not saved.

It would be even better if I could provide form inputs that allowed the site visitor to filter the view. For example if each node had a “date” field, there would be a form input where you could enter a date, and then the view would only show nodes with that date.

Are either of these possible?
