searchable database within our domain

Issue/Request:

The majority of our authors are not Yale Faculty; I am unable to add their publications. Is it possible for us to set up our own searchable database within dev.haskinslabs.org?

As a speech and communications lab, we also have many, many audio files of different types. Yalesites  recommends Soundcloud for audio storage. Due to the number of sound files, well exceeding 6 hours, we would have to have a Pro unlimited account.  However, if we are allowed our own database, we would also like to use it for storage of sound files as well.

Hi Yvonne,

I’d like to schedule a phone call with you so that we may discuss the 2 issues you want addressed. I am available most times tomorrow, if that works for you. Please let me know the best time and number to call you. This way I can get a better understanding of the changes that you need. Also, it would be best if you could add me as an admin to your site before our call, so that I can take a look at how things are built in order to best advise you on changes. My NetID is ct546. Please let me know when you have added me as an admin to your site.

I am looking forward to working with you.

Best regards,

Carris

Hi, Yvonne:

This is just a recap of my email to you.

Our suggestion is to use Box at Yale. We also recommend that the account be associated with a department, not an individual user. This will avoid problems if the individual user were to leave Yale.

Sound files on Box can be embedded in your site.

Locate the audio file you want to embed on your page Box at Yale.
Click on the Embed Video icon YSIWYG Embed Video in the WYSIWYG toolbar and paste the embed code where you want the video to display.
Here is an example on your site:  http://dev.haskinslabs.org/test-embed-mp3#overlay-context=

Best regards,

Carris
