Reviewer list not working for news content type

On our news content type, we set up a ‘reviewer’s list’ field using radio buttons, which allows the site editor to select the person to send for approvals (see below). Unfortunately, it does not appear to be working as when you select the person and save the page, it gives you an alert saying it is unable to email the person (see in the below). Can this be fixed??
The email addresses configured in the rules were off in their format so I’ve updated this and the emails should now send without an issue.
