Request for assistance with breadcrumbs (and possibly sub menu display)

Background info:

The Comp Lit Department’s website is set up so that the the faculty people page is the starting point from which users interact with the people section of the website.

The issue(s):

1. From the main page for each people type (e.g. people/graduate-students, people/lecturers), clicking the “People” breadcrumb leads back to people/faculty, as it is intended. However, if a user clicks on a specific profile, and then clicks the “People” breadcrumb, the user is brought to /people, which is lacking the necessary sub menu that is found on the left side of the people/faculty page.

2. Additionally, when users click on individual profiles, regardless of people type, the breadcrumb displayed is “Home ≫ People ≫ [NAME OF PERSON IN PROFILE].” The Person’s “people type” designation is not added to the breadcrumb, forcing users to consistently navigate back to the /people page each time they finish reading an individual profile.

The desired outcomes:

1. For the /people page breadcrumb to link to people/faculty from individual profiles, OR for the /people page of the website to display the same submenu as all other people type main pages do (for example, see people/faculty, people/lecturers, people/graduate-students, etc.).

2. For a profile’s designated people type to be added to the bread crumb displayed for the profile (e.g. Home ≫ People ≫ Faculty ≫ [NAME OF PERSON IN PROFILE]; Home ≫ People ≫ Graduate Students ≫ [NAME OF PERSON IN PROFILE]).

Any assistance and advice you could provide to help the department to achieve these desired outcomes would be greatly appreciated.
