We have a project that already has an outside site here: youthministryinitiative.org

They’ve requested to have a Yale url youth.yale.edu set up to redirect to their existing .org page.

I’m unsure if we even do that? Wouldn’t they have to have their site on the yale.edu server to have the yale.edu url?

Hello Campbell,

Technically it is possible however we feel that the best possible way to handle this would be to create a site-name.yale.edu URL and point (redirect) the existing www.youthministryinitiative.org to it. Going from yale.edu to the current would not gain them any SEO Raking or Popularity because the domain they are landing on is not a .edu domain. If they were to go the other way around it would. Let me know if I answered your question.
