On this site, I have a link to a private file. The link at the bottom has a CAS redirect and works for me, the administrator. But others cannot view the file - they get “access denied.” Under the access content module for the private file type, authenticated users have access, so I’m not sure what is wrong.
Hi, Etienne:
I took a look at you site and it seems that the page that holds the secure pdf was not published. That’s why authenticated/cas users could not see it and only you and admins could see it. I changed it to published. At present, the secured PDF is set so that authenticated/cas users can log in with cas and see the PDF. Is that how you want the PDF to be secured? Let me know. Also, I noticed that the page that this PDF is on has the title on the page twice. You might want to consider taking the title out of the WYSIWYG body so it only shows up once.
Best regards,
Carris
Thank you so much! I can’t believe I didn’t notice that the page wasn’t published!! haha. And also thank you for noticing the double title - I’ve corrected it.
Yes, I want all Yale members (those with a CAS login) to be able to see the pdf but not others. Are there other ways to secure a file though?
Hi, Etienne:
Yes, there are other ways. The way you used does not require a separate password. Here is a good place to start looking at the ways content can be restricted: http://yalesites.yale.edu/book/restricting-access-pages-and-files.
