Issue/Request:
Hi,
My new site has gone live, however it is not indexed with google. I would like to verify it with google, and in taking the steps have run into an issue: after enabling the sitemap I am unable to verify the site. Google provided me with a verifiaction txt line (google-site-verification=CFKskT-Lwy91-s2AH_yxSTnWit5OzX2jbwSGM1JwJY0) which I am supposed to add to the DNS configuration, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated so that we can be indexed/verified and people will see our site when they search for the lamar center.
Thank you,
Pasquale
Hi Pasquale,
Sometimes it may take a while for new sites to show up in Google search results as it depends on when Google does its crawl for indexing and we don’t have control over that, but let us take a look at your site configuration and see if there’s something we can do.
Best,
Alyssa
Hi Pasquale,
Did google provide you with other methods for verification? I know that when verifying ownership of a site with saearch console, they present you with a confusing option to verify a “domain” vs a “url”, I believe. The option you want is actually “url,” which does not require verification at the DNS level.
Once you select this, there is actually a module available for Drupal websites called “site verification,” which allows you to upload files or add text that would otherwise need to be added to the root of your site, or as markup.
If you require assistance with this, I can enable the module and add any of the provided verification methods. I don’t believe the line you provided will work in this instance, since that’s intended to verify at the domain level.
Best,
Zach
Hi Pasquale,
Do you still require assistanced with this?
