Multimedia View Adjustment Request

Issue/Request:

Dear YaleSites Team–I would like to request a few adjustments to the “multimedia” section of the Center’s website. Would you kindly assist with the following, at your earliest convenience:

Remove the sidebar second block containing (2017; 2016; 2015; 2014; 2013; Feature Stories; Multimedia) from this webpage (https://britishart.yale.edu/multimedia) only. This block should be maintained while navigating other content within the “News” menu and submenu (sidebar right).

Please make the new taxonomy term “Films” visible in alphabetical order, within the sidebar second view that already contains (Behind-the-scenes; Gallery Talks; and Lectures). There should be four options total.

When clicking on the multimedia submenu items in the sidebar second view (Behind-the-scenes; Gallery Talks; and Lectures), links at the bottom of each page expressed as icons similar to <1/8>; do not direct users to the next collection of videos with that taxonomy distinction. Could this be amended to direct a users to the next series of videos with that taxonomy term? Also confirm that the view containing all of the taxonomy terms (Behind-the-scenes; Films; Gallery Talks; and Lectures) on each of these pages is maintained, too.

Please let me know if you have other questions about this request.

Very best, Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,

I’m happy to help with this request. I’ll investigate everything you’ve mentioned here and will let you know if I have any questions.

Hi Ronnie,

I apologize for my delayed response! I was able to remove the block from the page you indicated. The other requests here are a bit more complex, so I will let you know tomorrow if I need additional details from you.

Best,

-Zach

Hi Ronnie,

I was able to do some testing on the site and determined why the Film category isn’t displaying on the sidebar-second area: This block is populated by a view, and a view will not display a grouping category if that grouping has no content. To test this, I quickly added and deleted a piece of content under the film taxonomy, and the category appeared in its proper place:

Once I removed the test content, the category disappeared again. Once this area is populated with content, it will display properly once more. There’s no issue with the way the view is configured—looking at the filter criteria, it will display any content in the multimedia category, so long as that category has at least one piece of published content.

I’m going to look into the third and final adjustment you requested now. I’ll reach out again if I have any questions.

Best,

-Zach

Hi Ronnie,

We suspect the issue with the sidebar-second view block only displaying 3/4 multimedia categories is an issue with the front-end styling of the site, and we’re investigating the possibility now.

I’m looking into the other matter as well, the < 1/6 > functionality not working properly. When I try to use this function, the collection of related materials simply disappears instead of loading additional content. Is that the issue you were asking about, initially? Or is this just compounding a separate underlying issue?
