Homepage Suprise, Broken Links

Dear YaleSites–my colleagues and I were surprised to find several broken links on the Center’s homepage this morning. 5 of the 9 image blocks were missing images and had broken links within the “configure block” form.  Updating the images and links has all been resolved on our end, but the underlining question is, why did this happen? Was there an update to the Drupal system, and/or work being performed by your team or external vendor that may have resulted in this outcome?

Also, in keeping record of changes made to homepage blocks, is it possible to receive notifications? This would be ideal, since we can better track our most visible part of the site!

Best, Ronnie

Dear Ronnie:

We apologize that this happened on your site, and we’ve gone through the logs of the site but couldn’t find anything related to content deletion. While there was no update to YaleSites recently, most issues consist of format changes or broken functionality within modules. We’ve seen cases like this where content may have been deleted accidentally by an admin or site editor so I can give you a list of users who have logged in within the past week, excluding myself and you:

Sarah Kraus
Christopher Lotis
Karen Buehler
Charlotte Padden
Shayna Roosevelt

Regarding notifications for changes to Blocks, we’ll look into this. There’s a module to set rules for content but we’ll see if there’s any way to also include Blocks.

Best,

Alyssa
