Google CSE Refresh

Google CSE results show out of date results. The Search Settings page (http://ctl.yale.edu/admin/config/search/settings) states “0% of the site has been indexed. There are 0 items left to index.” Clicking the re-index button doesn’t seem to do anything. Do I need to set something up in Cron? I thought it was supposed to re-index and refresh results automatically. I looked in both the Google Webmaster Tools and  Search Console settings but couldn’t find anything.

Also, it would be really useful to offer workshops on configuring Google CSE for Yalesites!

Thanks,

Alina

Hi,

Any updates on this? Thanks!

Alina

Hello Alina,

It seems that you are looking at the Drupal Node Search Settings instead of Google Custom Search. That should be looked at in google.com/cse/. There is nothing to do on the Drupal side. Google CSE updates automatically in Google’s Crawl Schedule which is not typically advertised.

Can you provide an example of the results that are out of date?

Josue

If you go to these search results you get results that are out of date. There are a number of pages that are showing up because there was a block that had that text in it, but the block is no longer there.

I looked in the Google CSE pages but couldn’t find anything about requesting a refresh.

Are there better options for searching that you recommend?
