I’m setting up a filter in my google analytics to exclude all on-campus traffic so I can just see data from off-campus users.
Does anyone have a list of the Yale domains that I need to exclude?

Hi Campbell,
I may be able to help with this. I looked on your analytics view for excluding on-campus traffic and saw that you have exclusion filters set up already for specific IP addresses. I was wondering if these were set up prior to your request for support or afterwards? We can discuss methodology for refining your reports from there.
Best,

Hi Zach,
I set those domains up prior to asking for the support. Those domains were provided by my IT rep here at YDS who said those were the ones we use here on our part of the campus. After I plugged them in, I realized I was likely not excluding the greater set of Yale domains that our students might be using in different parts fo the Yale campus so I decided it would be better for my stats to exclude all of Yale as best I could. That’s what led me to post the request for support.

Hi Campbell,
Apologies for the delayed response. I spoke with a colleague about this issue and determined that the exclusion filters you set up on the current view should work, but the address itself that you’re excluding isn’t correct. Excluding 172.29 excludes an external IP address, assigned to a machine by the ISP. What you want are local, or internal, IP addresses. The ones you’ll want to exclude are address beginning with 128.36, and with 130.132. This should exclude the entire breadth of yale campus traffic.
