Entity reference support for Context module

We are using the Context module to control the display of footer blocks.  Some of the Contexts we configured use a Condition on Taxonomy, but these are not working.

The problem, it turns out, is that Context does not play well with terms that are fielded using an Entity reference, rather than a Term reference.  There is a patch available that adds Context support for inspecting Entity reference fields:

Our developer has tested and confirmed the patch on a local environment.

Can this patch be applied to the Context module?

(Changing the fields to a Term reference type at this point will be very time consuming).
