Custom Site question

One of our centers wants to quickly build a new site. To preserve future possibilities, I’m wondering if we should request a custom site and just copy/deploy a standard YaleSites theme within that custom site (with little, or no, change) for now. That would give us the flexibility to develop a customized theme a year from now (or whenever).

Assuming we have the technical expertise, is there any reason not to take this path?

Otherwise, if we request a YaleSites theme, is there  a migration path to a custom site after the fact?

Hi Matt,

You can most certainly use one of the three templates then switch to a custom design. We can refresh dev from prd when you’re ready to work on the design. Pending the amount of customization you could use the CSS Injector, and add the design updates to the site in dev via the CSS Injector or create a theme in dev around the existing content.

Should you need to migrate content, which it doesn’t seem you will, there are methods to do so via feeds and importing content types and views.
