Creating an “About” link on the main menu

We’ve refreshed our site to add the Yale 2016 themes and to make some major reorganizational changes. I’d like to add an “About” menu to our main menu. I tried going to the Main Menu, clicking “Add link”, and using “About” for the menu title and “/about” for the path. I get the following error:
The path ‘/about’ is either invalid or you do not have access to it.
Is “/about” invalid? It looks like new YaleSites come with some filler pages, including an “About Us” menu, so I would have thought a path like “/about” is allowed.
Hi Natalie,
Our sites do come with a pre-built About US page, but in this case it was already removed or renamed so there is no path “about” that exists on the site. You will have to create a new Basic Page called About and link to that, but I see one on the site now which goes to https://dev.ling.yale.edu/about-us/note-chair.
You can change the theme by going to Appearance from the admin toolbar and then setting “YaleSites 2016 Boxed 2.x” as the default.
Best,
Alyssa
Thanks, Alyssa, that helps.
