Can’t delete a file
This file: http://divinity.yale.edu/sites/default/files/fall_2016_draft_course_sche… was originally added to this landing page: http://divinity.yale.edu/directory/offices/registrars-office
It was later removed to be replaced with a more current version of the schedule, but that file still shows up on google searches and can be viewed even though it was deleted from the page it was originally added to.
I was able to track down the file using the content browser and viewed it here: http://divinity.yale.edu/media/36856#overlay-context=media/36856
It gives me the option to delete the file, but when I try that I get an error that says that the file cannot be deleted because it’s “in use”.
Does that mean the file is still linked somewhere on a page? Why can’t I delete it manually?

There is a module in our list called Fancy File Delete. You’d need to request a Site Refresh so that it can be added to your codebase.
