Issue/Request:
hello. I am using the Yale Bedework module to import events from our calendar to a block on our front page. The feed does not update until I log-in to our site. I do have this module working on several of our other sites and am not experiencing this issue (to my knowledge). Do I need a site refresh or something? Can you look into this for me? Thanks. Lisa.
Hello Lisa,
Is the lag happening right after import or daily?
Josue
Hi Josue - I’m noticing it daily. For example, tomorrow morning, when I visit the site, the events from today (January 26) will still be there, at the top of the list. Once I log in via CAS, they will disappear and the list with start with the 1/27 events.
Lisa.
Hmm. Let me look into it. I know the site get cached, but it should still update the events at night when Cron runs. I’ll take a look.
Josue
Ok so the Site does cache and unfortunately it doesn’t automatically flush the cache upon loading. The alternative would be to load the news block through AJAX, which would load the most recent content for that block only every time the page loads. Would you like me to enable that?
Josue
I guess - is that normal “procedure” for this module? Will you need to do this for all my other sites? How come it flushes/reloads when I log in? I haven’t to our site yet, and you can see that yesterday’s events are there. When I go and log-in, today’s site’s will be on top.
Lisa.
As an Administrator, you bypass caching. For Anonymous Users, the site is cached for speed purposes. I enabled the option to use AJAX to load the calendar views. So that anytime the site is loaded it will load the latest calendar information, regardless of whether a user is logged in or not.
Josue
Do I have to worry about my other sites? I’m running this module on about 6 of them (or plan to).
Lisa.
Hello - my Bedework Calendar feed is once again not “refreshing” to show today’s events on the front page (http://macmillan.yale.edu). Can you check this for me?
Thanks, Lisa.
