I created a new role (Page Editor) for testing whether a staff member could edit her own page.
She is unable to edit and none of us see the below menu described in the documentation.

Hello Yvonne,
By default, all people should be able to edit their own profile pages. There is no need to create a new role.

It is good news that people should be able to edit their own profile page. However, the reason we are contacting you is that we cannot see any way that it can be done except to give people admin status and then they are able to edit every part of the website. Please provide a more specific answer to our query. If the request is not clear, please let me know.
The “User menu” should be visible in the homepage or <front>. If it is not visible, the site user with the Administrator role can find the menu in the homepage and click Configure Block. This will open up the block options and under Roles you can find which roles are able to see the block. I’ve already corrected this for you so that all authenticated users are able to see the block. This means the user will have to log in with their NetID & Password.

This issue is caused when the default Text Formats (admin/config/content/formats) are changed. I’ve reverted them back to the defaults. It’s advised to keep those at default because it can open up potential vulnerabilities which could lead to security issues with the site.
There remains a problem. The profile page for Annie Stutzman was edited by an administrator and they used the WYSIWYG. This introduces HTML elements when links are created and/or images are added. By default authenticated users are capable of editing their own user pages but the body content uses Filtered HTML, sometimes elements are introduced by the admin, it disables the body/bio field.
I’ve reverted the text formats so it should now be working. Please let me know if Annie can access and edit her page.
