Adjusting News thumbnail images

A couple of our “News” thumbnails cut-off awkwardly and don’t center on the content we’d like in the thumbnail. Is it possible to adjust the image so that it displays the way we’d like it to?

We have a book cover with the title cut off and a photo of a person where the thumbnail cuts off top of his head.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Hello Kathleen,

We have a checklist to follow when changing the theme. See the Moving to YaleSites 2016 Theme Checklist. For your particular question we have the Adjust Thumbnail Images.

Hi Josue,

I’m not sure that helped – I tried overriding the defaults and it’s not that the thumbnail is blurry and trying to size-up, but that it is not cropped/centered on what we’d like to feature. Does that make sense? Is there a way to select what part of the image we would like to display as the thumbnail?

Best,

Kathleen

Hello Kathleen,

There is no way to pre-select the portion of the image you want to display. You can try adding or modifying the image styles which would determine the re-size and crop but this would affect all the items with using that image style.
