Adding a search field for professors’ names

On our courses content view here: http://divinity.yale.edu/academics/courses we have a variety of search options.

There is a question about whether we could add a search box to the operators on that page to allow users to search by professor name.

I’m unsure if that’s possible since the names are coming from the users put into the system instead of existing as separate data.

Any ideas?

Hi Campbell,

The easiest way to achieve what you want is to add a text field to the Courses Content Type (I added it in your dev site. I used the field name of Instructor Sort.) Then go into each content item and put the instructors in the Instructor Sort field. I did a few (5) so that you could see how it works. Let me know if you need more of an explanation or more help implementing it.
