Added file field to Event type, will not link to file

I have added a file field in the event type to enable presentations to be uploaded with the event information within the calendar. When a file is uploaded, the path where the file is located is displayed, but not linked. I have also enabled the Description feature, which also does not work. I have tried changing a few things including linking to url and generic file, to no avail.

I edited the settings on the Events content type and I think I got it to display how you were imagining. Can you confirm?

Great! In the Manage Display, I changed the Materials field to be in “Generic File” format and also changed the layout of the display (at the bottom of the Manage Display settings) to “Reset.” I am pretty sure that is what did it, but I also unchecked the setting “File attach from server directory” in the field settings of the File, under File Sources. I was replicating the settings from a site that I know this was working on and those were all of the settings.
