Issue/Request:
Is there a way to export a specific content type from my website? I’m working on re-developing this site, and content has been added to the live version and I’d like to be able to re-add the new content once the dev site is refreshed up to the live site.
dev.cmes.macmillan.yale.edu is the dev site. The content I am interested in exporting is “publications” - they’ve added several new publications to the site.
Does Views Export do this? if it does, do you know if the module will also grab the images?
TIA, Lisa.
Hello Lisa,
You’d need to enable the Node Export Module. This will allow you to export content and then import into another Drupal installation. I’m assuming you don’t really need to Export/Import content types since you already have the Publications content type on both sites.
Josue
Not the content types - just the actual content - Node Export Module will allow me to do that, yes?
Lisa.
Yes it will allow you to move the content.
Hi Josue - So, the admins in the program have significantly updated the live site while I was re-developing the site on dev. I was able to export the publications (all the content) and then import them - no problem. I did get many duplications of publications that were already there and I went ahead and deleted the dup from the refresh, so that only the imported publications are listed in the dev site now.
Here is another issue. They’ve re-vamped the people on this site, too, adding “fields of interest” and also linking the publication to the author. Is there a way for me to transfer all this over, too?
For example, could I import the new fields added to the “people” on the dev site and then import all the people from the live site to the dev site? would the publications also be displayed on the people pages in dev, too?
thanks for your help. you can call me, too, at 6-9356
Lisa.
Unfortunately that one will have to be done manually. There is no current mechanism to export/import people or the fields since people is technically not a content type.
