Search functionality for Forum Module

Hello,

We recently added a forum to our website (using the Forum module) and noted that the instructions didn’t include anything about search functionality. I see that this Yale Sites Support Forum has the ability to search through topics, and we think it’s a critical piece of functionality discussion forums should have. Is it possible to add search functionality to this discussion forum? Additionally, is there any way to be notified of new posts? Thanks!

Additionally, the Forum module is appearing for anonymous users (shows up on the front page with all content available), when we only want it to be available to users with the role Leadership Staff or Summer Staff. I have gone through the permissions multiple times but have not been able to hide this forum from anonymous users. I am running into the same issue with the FAQ module as well (although it shows up on the page but anonymous users aren’t able to see the content). Thank you!

Hello Michelle,

We use the Custom Search Block (Configuration > Search and metadata > Custom Search). There we set the block to search the Forum content. You can also set the amount of blocks available.
