People Type listing/Draggable Views

Hi,

I’m trying to reorder the People Type listing on this page so that it displays Core Faculty first, then Affiliated Faculty, then Advisory Committee. 

I tried doing this using Draggable Views, but that only let me reorder the order of people within each People Type. I couldn’t reorder the People Type listing itself.

I’m not sure what else to try/if Draggable Views is even the way to go for this. I’d appreciate any help you could provide with this.

Hi, Pratima:

We have used taxonomy to get the result you are asking about. You will need to enable the ‘Taxonomy Manager’ module. Take a look at this instructional page in the How To Guide:  http://yalesites.yale.edu/book/creating-categories-taxonomy for how to use taxonomy and attach it to a content type.

Next you will need to add that taxonomy to the people type and then tag each person. You will get the ordering that you want by changing the order or weights of the taxonomy terms.

You will also need to add a field in the following two places in the View:

  • Under Sort Criteria add the taxonomy field and make it the first filter to sort by.
  • Under ‘Advanced’ > ‘Relationships’, add a taxonomy field as well.

I know that this is a general description of what needs to be done. But it should get you started.
