Adding drop-down menus to sort faculty

Hi,

I’d like to add to my Faculty page a feature that would let people sort my faculty with 3 drop-down menus that would work together for visitors of the site to find them by more detailed terms.  One drop-down each for “Period,” “Geography,” and “Thematic.”  If you can point me to some instructions or help in any way, that would be great.

Hi, Dana:

In order to have those filters, there are 3 steps. Here is a general description of the steps to take.:

First:  You will have to add those fields to the People content type.

Second:  You will have to edit each faculty member and add the information to each of the fields. These are the items that will appear in the drop down box of the exposed filter.

Third:  You will have to edit the view, under filter criteria, by adding the field that you added to the People content type. I put one exposed filter on your faculty page for ‘field of interest’, so that you could see how it works. This is easy to remove, just let me know.

If you feel comfortable doing this, great. If not, maybe we can schedule a phone call or office hours to step through the process.
