Phone numbers in web form

I created a web form to use for rsvp’s for an upcoming event (Exhibition Reception). The format for the phone number is not the regular phone number format so when people put in the number they are getting an error message that says the number needs to be formatted as “12,345.6789”.

Is there a way to change the format so a phone number can be entered normally?

Hi Kristen;

It looks like you chose a number field for your phone number field, this should really be a text field, not a number field. This way users can enter the phone number with the dashes etc. I suggest removing the phone number field and remaking it (just that one field) using a text type field. That will solve your problem. Let me know if you want more help with this.
