Very slow page load

Issue/Request:

The time taken to load the page is greater than 4 s for the first load. Subsequent loads, within few minutes of the first load, are all fast. The speed once again drops if I try it after several hours. This issue is not only on my computer, but on multiple computers and browsers that I tried, and also reported by Google’s PageSpeed Insights: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2… . This appears to be an issue with the setup, but one which I am unable to fix. Can you please suggest how to improve the first page load speed?

A module named AdvAgg appears to have been developed to deal with this exact issue: https://www.drupal.org/project/advagg . Perhaps, this is useful for your tech team.

Hello Madhu,

We recognize that our infrastructure is 7 years old and are working on moving approximately 1,500 sites to the cloud which should speedup the sites considerably. Another thing to keep in mind is that all YaleSites are cached so that Anonymous Users (People not logged into the site) can have a faster browsing experience. As an administrator, the logged in user bypasses caching to reload the recently updated content. This facilitates editing and site administration, but does slow load times. Moving our sites to the cloud should resolve most of the speed and page loading issues.
