Pictures not displaying

Is there a limit on how many images a Drupal 7 site can have in its image library and/or display on its pages?  I had uploaded a number of pictures for the international travel toolkits when I created those a couple of years back, but noticed that as I developed the rest of the site (and added more images to other pages) that the images originally in the international travel toolkits stopped displaying and, in fact, had disappeared from the image library, as if displaced by other images that were uploaded later.

I have removed most of the picture “placeholders” (for lack of a better term - it’s where a picture had been uploaded but is not displaying and just a box remains that I can select and delete) because they were affecting the adjacent text, which was wrapping to the next line as though the picture was still displaying, leaving just a blank space.

If there is a limit, can it be adjusted?  I’d like to get the images back into the website and would also like to be able to add more going forward.

Thanks for your help!

Carolyn

That’s not normal behavior and we haven’t had anyone else report this. there is no time limit that images can stay on your site so I’m not sure what would be causing this. Can you provide a URL for the specific page this is happening? I’d like to look further and try to recreate it. Also I do see lots of duplicate images when going through the WYSIWYG toolbar. Possibly images were renamed and therefore broke other instances? I’m grasping at straws.

Here’s an example: http://world-toolkit.yale.edu/resources-topic/travel/orientations/health…. You’ll see a blank space at the top right and the text next to it wraps as if there is an image there, but the image isn’t visible.  When you open the node to edit, you’ll see a placeholder space where the image was.  That image disappeared out of the image library at some point, leaving just that placeholder.

I see what you mean about the duplicate images in the image library - there are a handful of those that I can clean up.  But there were originally about 10 more images that I had uploaded for the orientation content that are no longer in the library at all.  I’d love to know why they disappear - I was assuming they were displaced due to some sort of space limit on the library when I uploaded more images as I continued to build the site.

OK, I see what’s happening. The images are pointing to your old D6 site, I can tell because of IMCE reference in the URL (http://world-toolkit.yale.edu/sites/default/files/imce/AfricaTree.jpg). So most likely they were pasted into the D7 site rather than being uploaded to the site. The images showed up as long as the D6 site was in production, but once it wasn’t the image reference was no longer valid.

So it’s not a problem with the storage of images and any limit, which is good. But you’ll need to replace the old images and upload them to the new site.

That makes perfect sense.  Nancy, thank you so much!
