Draggable Views

Views plugin that you to create a view that allows site visitors to rearrange a list of items on the page without admin access. The Video tutorial in the Right Sidebar explains in detail how to set up your views to  change the sort order. Step-by-step instructions can be found below.

Configuring Draggable Views

There are 2 main steps to configuring Draggable Views:

1. Clone the People Listing View so you have the People View and the People Sorting View. 
2. Configure with Draggableviews fields.

Cloning the People View

1. Clone the People view and rename People Sorting.
   • Structure > Views > People > Clone
2. Remove all the displays except the People Page display.
3. Change the Path settings to /people-sorting.
4. Remove the page from the Menu.
5. Add Draggableviews: User field to the Field Listing (this gives your listing handles to drag the rows where you want).
6. Add Draggableviews: Weight field to the Sort Criteria section.

Adjusting the People View

1. Go to the original People View - Structure > Views > People
2. Go to Sort Criteria and add the Draggableviews: Weight.
3. Save the View.

Changing the Sort Order

Now your view is ready to change the sort order:

1. Go to the People page (http://yoursitename.yale.edu/people) and click on the Gear icon in the upper right corner of the People View.
2. Select Order View and this will take you to the People Sorting page.
3. The handles appear on the page where you can select them and reorder your listing.
